Installation
Hot Tub Installation Guidelines:
Please note, this section contains guidelines designed to answer many
of the more commonly asked (and those that should be asked) installation
questions. Due to the variety of system designs,
configurations and local
municipal building codes, it's not possible to cover every aspect of installing
a hot tub. Please, always feel free to call us with any and all questions.
While some folks do hire a contractor to install their hot tub, many people
enjoy the satisfaction of installing it themselves with little or no
professional help.
One aspect of a hot tub installation that almost certainly
will need to be done by a professional electrician is the wiring and installing
the GFI breaker in the electrical panel.
Hot Tub Location Guidelines:
The first part of any hot tub installation is planning. There are a
tremendous variety of locations and configurations that one may use to
incorporate a hot tub into their home or landscape. Whether indoors or
out, a hot tub
provides
immense enjoyment all year long.
Location of the Tub:
The first two considerations in planning should be the location of
the hot tub and the support equipment. As for locating the hot tub,
we've learned that the closer it is to the house (or bedroom), the more
frequently it will be used. Installations on existing decks are not
uncommon and the advice of an engineer is highly recommended.
Outdoor Location:
The tub must sit on a solid surface to provide stability and prevent settling.
Patio pavers, pea gravel, decks and concrete slabs are all good choices.
Whatever you choose, be sure the surface is level, solid and has some drainage.
Indoor Location:
Indoor installations are also quite common, but require some
considerations of
their own. The main consideration with indoor
installations is moisture. When
the hot tub's insulating cover is
removed for use, quite a bit of steam can
accumulate in the room, so
good ventilation will be desired.
The size of the hot
tub you choose for indoor use is also important. Be sure that all door openings
and stairways are wide enough for you to get the hot tub to your desired location.
